Jason Basler is the test architect for IBM Spectrum Protect™. He has been part of the development team for over twenty years, and has expertise in various Spectrum Protect technologies as well as related storage technologies. He is the architect responsible for the IBM Spectrum Protect blueprints with a focus on scalability and publishing best practices derived from experiences in the test labs.
Thomas Baumann is founder and head of tiri GmbH http://www.tiri.li/, a service company and IBM Business Partner in Germany concerning Software Defined Storage, Backup & Recovery, and Linux System Automation as well as Security Monitoring / Security Information and Event Management.
He has more than 25 years of IT experience. His areas of expertise include IBM Tivoli Storage Manager / Spectrum Storage implementation projects and education at customer sites.
He holds several certifications, including technical and sales, and acts also as Instructor. Moreover he is member of the TSM Early Access Program.
Currently he uses enhanced technologies in Logmanagement, and Security Monitoring, and uses this knowledge also for the IBM Storage Administration.
Gerd Becker is a Project Manager for EMPALIS Consulting GmbH, an IBM Business Partner in Germany. He has more than 40 years of IT experience, including over 20 years experience with storage management products such as DFSMS and Tivoli Storage Manager. His areas of expertise include IBM Tivoli Storage Manager implementation projects and education at customer sites, including mainframe environments (OS/390®, VSE, VM, and Linux® for zSeries®).
In the context of data protection he has certifications and experience in project management. He holds several certifications, including technical and sales, and is an IBM Tivoli Certified Instructor. He has developed and taught several storage classes for IBM Education Services in Germany, Switzerland and Austria and for qSkills in Nuernberg. He has been Chairman of the Guide Share Europe (GSE) Storage-Usergroup for more than 17 years and member of the committee organizing the well known TSM or ISP Symposium. Director Pre-Sales EMEA Data Protection
With more than 20 years’ experience in backup and archive technologies and with expertise in deduplication, disaster recovery, data management and Cloud, Stéphane Cardot is Director of Pre-Sales for EMEA, Data Protection at Quantum.
In this role he’s responsible for growing the Quantum brand across key EMEA regions, while also maintaining and enhancing the Pre-Sales teams and customer pre-acquisition processes. He reports directly to Gilles Gabriel, VP Sales EMEA.
Prior to this role, Stéphane also worked at Quantum as a Pre-Sales Manager and before this, as a Field Engineer. Before joining Quantum he worked in various technical support roles, focusing on archive optical systems for companies including HP, Plasmon, Ricoh and Nikon.
Stéphane holds a degree in Robotic Design from Léonard de Vinci St Germain en Laye.

As a Next Generation Solution Architect at IBM, I assist clients with their Software Defined Solutions journey and leverage our cognitive infrastructure comprised of IBM Spectrum Storage Software to maximise business value as well as enabling customers to comply with the GDPR solutions framework.
Colin Dawson has been with IBM Spectrum Protect since ADSM version 1 release 1 in 1993. Through the years, he has worked in many areas of the server with emphasis on inventory management, session protocol, LAN-Free, and the database. His current role is as the Server and Operations Center lead architect with responsibility and oversight for the functional enhancements being implemented in a given release along with setting technical direction and other such forward-looking considerations.
Thomas Eifert studied Physics at RWTH Aachen University where he received his Ph.D. in solid state chemistry. He joined the IT Center's predecessor 1992 and worked in several fields of services with a focus on stateful services like Backup/Archive.
Since 2013 he is the CTO of the IT Center.
His current focus of interest is on digitalization of research, and how central IT can support this.
Pétur Eyþórsson is the Resiliency Offerings Manager at Nýherji. A certified Data Protection and Security expert with 18 years of experience in advising corporations, such as Iceland's largest enterprises, government agencies, and software Vendors. Worked as a Independent analyst and technical strategist for some of Gartner´s magic quadrant vendors in both the Data Protection and Security fields on Resiliency related subjects. Jimmy Fagan is an early tenure developer with just over two years of experience on the IBM Spectrum Protect Server Development team. He joined the team after graduating summa cum laude from the University of Arizona with degrees in Engineering Management and Computer Science. He has worked on features supporting the Openstack Swift, Amazon S3, and Microsoft Azure clouds, including rest API management for the get/put traffic to these clouds, and performance optimization through the disk acceleration cache.
Enrico Fattibene took a degree in Astronomy at the University of Bologna in 2002.
He is working at CNAF, the central computing and storage facility of INFN (Italian Institute for Nuclear Physics), since 2004.
He was involved in several international Grid and Cloud projects.
Since 2015, he is part of the group that manages storage and data access services for the High-Energy Physics experiments at the LHC (Large Hadron Collider) in Geneva and for ~30 non-LHC collaborations.
Enrico is working as administrator of the HSM system, that holds 42PB of scientific data on a tape library with 10000 slots, and the CNAF backup and recovery service, both exploiting Spectrum Protect/TSM.
Andre Gaschler joined IBM 1994. He is working in the EMEA Storage Competence Center in Kelsterbach as an expert for Data Protection and Retention solutions. With his experience of more than 10 years in IBM Spectrum Protect he is supporting customers in pre-sales and post-sales projects, developing Spectrum Protect solution designs for small and larger data center backup solutions.
Kirsten Glöer has studied computer science at the University of Karlsruhe. She has more than 20 years experience with storage management products such as Spectrum Protect/TSM/ADSM. After her studies, she was employed for five years at the University of Karlsruhe and organized together with Prof. Gerhard Schneider and Klaus Dilper the ADSM workshops, the predecessor of the TSM Symposiums. Since 2009, Kirsten is system administrator for Unix, SAN and NFS storage systems, VMware and Spectrum Protect at FIZ Karlsruhe.
Peter is the President of GUIDE SHARE EUROPE. In the working life he is among other functions the Managing Director of BTB GmbH in Germany, Leinfelden.
Nils Haustein joined IBM in 1994 after successfully completing the work for a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the Technical University Chemnitz. As storage engineer he has worked in various technical positions at IBM in manufacturing, support, technical presales and services. One of Nils’ key focus areas is digital archiving and preservation where he has developed solutions and co-authored a book named “Storage Networks explained” (“Speichernetze”). As a leading master inventor at IBM he coaches inventors and fosters the development of patents.

Greg Van Hise
Greg is responsible for Spectrum Protect Technical Strategy and is an IBM Master Inventor. Greg is a veteran of the storage industry with recent work focusing on cloud and virtualization. Prior to this, Greg held strategy, development, architecture and strategy roles with TSM, TPC and DFSMShsm.
Del Hoobler is an offering manager for IBM Spectrum Protect. He is a Senior Offering Manager with over 28 years of experience in offering management, software architecture, design, development, education, and service. Del has worked on designing and developing software products for the award winning IBM Spectrum Protect suite of products and has delivered education for IBMers, business partners, and customers. He is currently responsible for setting the roadmap for future enhancements and strategy for IBM Spectrum Protect.
Claus has been involved with system administration at the University of Cologne for 40 years. Since 1990 he has been head of the Systems Department and his main interest is in storage networking solutions and linux based server farms. He was involved in leading the German Unix Users Group (GUUG) for many years and was Speaker of the operating systems committee of the ZKI-Verein (www.zki.de) until 2016.
Oliver Klenk joined the Robert Bosch GmbH in 1992 as System engineer MVS. He has over 19 years of experience with IBM Spectrum Protect starting with ADSM. As Team leader for the Bosch Backup Team he is responsible for the worldwide Backup solutions with Spectrum Protect at Bosch.

During the first years of my career I worked in complex service engagements, focusing on technology, consulting and delivering learning services. Urs Moser is a retired IBM Employee. He worked for IBM Switzerland during the last 44 years on different Projects in Switzerland and Germany. He has more than 40 years of IT experience, including over 25 years experience with storage management products such as DFSMS / WDSF / ADSM and Tivoli Storage Manager, Spectrum Protect and TSLM (Tape System Library Manager)

Dominic Mueller Wicke
Dominic Müller-Wicke joined the IBM in 2007. He is part of the IBM Spectrum Protect development team and responsible for the integration between IBM Spectrum Protect, IBM Spectrum Scale and IBM Spectrum Archive. He leads the IBM Spectrum Protect development team in Kelsterbach and is the technical lead for Unix HSM and scalable backup. In several research projects he is working close with the IBM Research team in Rüschlikon in Switzerland. Beside his development activities he publishes papers and presents at conferences. As part of the intellectual property development team he is actively driving inventions and patents for IBM.
Bjørn got in contact with TSM in late 2001 as a client user at the computing center of the Stuttgart University. Some years later he started to administrate TSM servers. At the GWDG he launched the new backup environment with several servers for the Max-Planck-Gesellschaft and the Univerisity of Göttingen three years ago. Before doing the „backup job“ he spent time on HPC systems and research on parallel algorithms for computational numerics. In the meantime Bjørn led the server group at the Braunschweig University IT Center. He is the current speaker of the operating systems committee of the ZKI-Verein (www.zki.de <http://www.zki.de>). Bjørn is also privacy supervisor of his company.
Cyrus Niltchian is an Offering Manager for IBM Spectrum with focus on snapshot-based Data Protection. He earned a Master's degree in Information Technology of the Eberhard Karls University in Tuebingen, Germany. Starting in 1997, Cyrus worked in IBM's Research and Development Lab in Boeblingen as software architect for products, which are centered around IBM Tivoli Storage Manager and IBM Content Manager. The foundation for his expertise is profound application knowledge about IT systems, such as SAP, IBM DB/2, ORACLE DB, Lotus Domino, Microsoft Exchange and VMware. His work in the first 5 years spawned from software architectures to their market transition. Customer engagements as project manager as well as enablement activities were his daily business. For the next 10 years, Cyrus worked in Sales and Technical Enablement to provide worldwide enablement for IBM Tivoli Storage Manager, focused on the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for Applications and Databases' product portfolio. Since 2013 Cyrus is an Offering Manager in the IBM Spectrum family of products focusing on IBM Spectrum Copy Data Management.
Norbert Pott is an IBM Spectrum Protect (Tivoli Storage Manager) Support Specialist in Germany. He works for the IBM Spectrum Protect back-end support team, providing support to customers worldwide. He has 36 years of experience with IBM, over 27 years of experience in IT, and more than 20 years of experience with the IBM Spectrum Protect and it's predecessor products, starting with ADSM Version 2.1.5.

Schmitz RZ Consult GmbH
Stefan Schröder is Head of Software Development at Schmitz RZ Consult GmbH. He has more than 10 years experience in Storage Management - especially IBM Spectrum Protect, NetWorker and Veeam. After his study in computer science Stefan Schröder worked first as a software engineer and consultant for IBM Spectrum Protect. Quickly he became software architect at Schmitz RZ Consult GmbH and has a now leading role in the development of BACKUP EAGLE®.
Since 2011 Joachim is the head of the department for central systems, media service and central windows services at the Zentrum für Informations- und Medienverarbeitung (http://www.zim.uni-wuppertal.de/). He is mainly involved in the central datacentre infrastructure (VM-Hosts and SAN), the central file storage and the central backup. In 2012 the old backup solution was totally exchanged with ISP for the whole existing environment. Joachim has studied physics at the University of Wuppertal and did his PhD in the context of the ATLAS Experiment at CERN. Matan Sitbon is the CTO of Eshnav information systems, an IBM Business Partner Israel. Jim Smith is the IBM Spectrum Protect architect responsible for virtual server data protection (VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V), unstructured data and large file systems (Backup-Archive client) and hierarchal space management (HSM). Jim is a twenty-five-year veteran of the storage industry with IBM and has authored several technical papers relating to data protection. He is also an IBM Systems Master Inventor.
Christian Vanden Balck
Christian Vanden Balck - Data Protection and Archive Master Principal Sales Consultant, Oracle
For Christian, it all started with ADSM V2 on z/OS back in 1997 at a retail customer in Belgium. He also attended the third ADSM Symposium (Karslruhe) in 1998 in search of hints and tips for the migration to V3.
Since then, he evolved to become a Master Principal Sales Consultant for Oracle with expertise in both mainframe and open systems architectures covering international accounts. Christian has over 25 years of experience in both customer and vendor roles. In this current role he's responsible for growing Oracle market share across Western Europe countries while also driving the customers to adopt the Cloud as a valid storage tier.
He has joined Oracle thru the Sun and StorageTek acquisitions where he had various technical roles as Technical account Manager and Presales Teamleader for the BeNeLux cluster
Joerg Walter holds a diploma in electrical engineering and computer sciences and joined IBM in 2000.
Joerg worked in various technical positions within IBM. Starting with network engineering & design, he changed focus to storage, data protection & retention in 2005. Being a member of the Tivoli Storage Manager engineering team, he collected vast experience and knowledge in the design, implementation and support of complex TSM based DP&R environments.
Since 2011, Joerg is a member of IBM's Systems Storage Lab Services team, supporting customers with the planning and implementation of DP&R related HW & SW products, like Spectrum Protect, FlashCopy Manager, IBM Spectrum Copy Data Management, ProtecTIER and physical tape.
Josef Weingand is Business Development Manager for Tape Storage at IBM for Region DACH (Germany, Austria and Switzerland). He has 21 year of experience providing technical and sales support for Data Protection and Data Retention solutions. Josef support Clients, BP and IBM Sales to find the right backup and archive storage solution which is secure, meet the right performance requirements and is also cost-effective.

Dr. Philipp Wieder
Chris Zaremba is a software architect with over 38 years experience in software development and design. He started his IBM software development career in 1981 working on the ISPF product on MVS and VM but has worked on Spectrum Protect and its predecessor products (TSM, ADSM and WDSF/VM) since 1990. Chris is the Spectrum Protect architect responsible for application aware backup and recovery delivered through the Data Protection agents for databases, mail servers and SAP as well as the snapshot based application protection provided by the Spectrum Protect Snapshot product.
